One of the main reasons for purchasing our grapes from different growers, is to experience the unique flavors and aromas that are characteristic of grapes grown in certain vineyards. For example, Tierra Alta Vineyard in Los Olivos has a rich, limestone-based soil that brings out slightly mineral tones in our Syrah. Yet McGinley Vineyard, located in Happy Canyon at the base of the San Rafael Mountains, has a rocky soil that forces the Syrah vines to stress, bringing about grapes that create Syrahs with dark, intense flavors.
