Carolyn
Originally from the East Bay, Carolyn first fell
in love with Santa Barbara when she came to visit a friend during
her senior year of high school. This made the decision to attend
UC Santa Barbara an easy one, and so she began her studies for degrees
in both English and French in 2002. During the summer between her
junior and senior year, her love of both literature and the French
language led her to spend three months in Europe, where she spent
two months studying first at Cambridge University, then at Glasgow
University in Scotland. Afterward she spent one month traveling
throughout France, which eventually brought her to Bordeaux, where
she fell in love with the beauty and culture of French wines. After
tasting through the Entre Deux Mères region and taking a
couple wine classes in the city, Carolyn knew she was hooked.
Upon her return to Santa Barbara, Carolyn continued
to quench her thirst for knowledge of winemaking and good wines
by taking a “World of Wine” class at UCSB, After graduating
in June 2006, she landed her first job in the wine industry at Summerland
Winery’s tasting room. She eventually started working part
time at Sunstone Winery until finding Carina Cellars in December
2006 where she started off pouring in the tasting room and organizing
events, and now manages the national sales and distribution.
Carolyn is excited to be at Carina Cellars where
her love of good wine, good company, and good times come together
to create the perfect blend. She looks forward to her future here
and will use her love of wine and writing to learn more about the
beauty of the Santa Barbara Wine Country. She also hopes to one
day return to France and spend more time learning about the wine
and culture.
