Ryan
Originally from Utah, Ryan Saccomano moved to
California in 1999 with his family. After high school and two years
at Monterey Peninsula College, Ryan attended the California Culinary
Academy in San Francisco where he was first exposed to the wonderful
world of wine.
Ryan went on to pursue a short career in the culinary
field before realizing his true passion was for wine. He moved from
San Francisco to Santa Maria where he acquired his first job in
the wine industry, as a tasting room associate at Carina Cellars.
In preparation for harvest, winemaker Joey Tensley
brought Ryan into the winery where he took him under his wing. With
his experience at Carina Cellars and Tensley Wine Ryan ventured
off to Napa and Sonoma where he worked at Newton Vineyards and Dutcher
Crossing Winery.
In December 2008, owner David Hardee opened the
new Carina Cellars winery in Paso Robles. Hardee and Tensley knew
just the man for the new winemaking position, Ryan Saccomano, and
so a new chapter at Carina Cellars began.
