Jody

A native of the Santa Ynez Valley wine country, Jody Brownell grew up on Ballard Canyon Road, now one of the premier vineyard growing regions in the region. Jody is a 2004 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz where she received a Bachelor of Arts in The History of Art and Visual Culture with Honors. During her third year in college she studied abroad, spending a year at the Universita degli Studi di Bologna, and following a rigorous course of study alongside her Italian colleagues in Bologna, Italy. During her travels throughout Europe Jody learned about art and wine and came to love them both equally.

Upon her return to the Santa Barbara area she interned with the Curator of Photography at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, but quickly realized that the office environment was not for her. Pure chance lead her to the Carina Cellars tasting room where she is now the National Sales Manager as well as working in the tasting room during the week. Jody is currently pursuing additional education through the Viticulture program at Allan Hancock College and is preparing to plant her own small vineyard on her parent’s property.
