Our 2nd Annual Holiday Wine Release Party was a hit! We enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by your Wine Club Manager, Natasha Kummerfeldt, and Shannon Feldt, owner of Santa Barbara’s new Crushcake Cupcakery shared some of her favorite mini cupcakes with us! And of course we tasted through our new 2007 wines! For those of you who weren’t able to join us for this event, we still want to give you the opportunity to get some of these wines for
yourself before they “disappear” into our cellar, only to be re-released in late 2009/ early 2010. Some of you may have the patience to wait that long, but for those of you who can’t, make sure you take advantage of this special

2007 Zinfandel
The Luciano Pavarotti of wines, this gregarious and full-bodied Zinfandel will sing out in a tenor fit to rival the best of them. The melody begins with an aromatic bouquet filled with black cherries, blackberries, rosehips and a hint of darkly toasted walnuts. Then the tenor enters with a palate bursting with plums, cran-raspberries and açai; culminating with that signature “High C note” that resonates with flavors of berry cobbler and dark cacao. The finish continues to reverberate long after the last note is sung, leaving you with just the slightest hint of a rose, left on stage for an encore of this Opera of Flavors. Regular price: $28

2007 Syrah, “7 Percent”
Lucky number 7! Our 2007 vintage is sure to be one of our best years yet for our Northern Rhone blend of Colson Canyon Syrah with the winning combination of 7% Viognier. The Viognier offers a beautiful floral bouquet that mingles with the Syrah’s heavier scent of black cherries and pepper, as the robust palate oscillates between dried cranberries and lavender, blackberries and anise. For a winning combination, pair with a hot bowl of venison stew. Regular price: $38

2007 Clairvoyant
Although this wine takes its name from the French word Clairvoyance, meaning to “see clearly” into the future, one need not possess extra-sensory perception to enjoy this magnificent southern Rhone-style blend! Allow your senses to come alive as your eyes gaze at the rich burgundy color, and your nose is enticed with pomegranates, acai, jasmine, and coffee. Your palate awakens to medley of cranberries, dates and plums that finishes with a hint of black pepper. 2007 Syrah, McGinley Vineyard
Goldilocks had her three bears, three beds, three bowls of porridge, and eventually she found the one that was “just right!” Well let your search for the perfect Syrah go no further, as Carina Cellars has the Syrah that is “just right” from McGinley Vineyard. Previously called Westerly Vineyard, this Syrah exhibits the same well-balanced acidity and jammy fruits that are characteristic of Happy Canyon. The perfect compliment with pan-roasted duck breast with blackberry, brandy and green peppercorn sauce over sweet corn grits. Regular price: $36

Named for the Sibyls, Greek prophetesses who channeled Apolo’s ability to see into the future, this boisterous Rhone blend is not afraid to speak its mind. It announces its presence with aromas of fresh roses, gardenias, raspberries and a hint of clove, while its palate allures with pomegranates, dried cranberries, and tobacco.
